Youth Information Point (Jongeren Informatiepunt)
Are you 12 to 27 years old and live in The Hague, Delft or Zoetermeer? If you have questions or doubts about anything in your life, you can get free advice and information from JIP, the Youth Information Point (Jongeren Informatiepunt). Their useful website contains plenty of helpful information, links and telephone numbers, relating to housing, work, sexual and mental health, and much more. But you can also get in touch with a professional advisor for free and confidential advice. Whatever your question, JIP can help you find an answer.
Get Answers to Your Questions
The Hague region is usually a comfortable place for young people, but living and growing up in the Netherlands can also have its own challenges. Perhaps you have questions or doubts about finding a place to live, your sexual health, finances, issues with the government, or finding a job. That’s what JIP is here for! You might find answers to your questions on their website (in Dutch), but you can also speak for free to a friendly, professional advisor.
Typical questions for JIP could be ‘I have problems at home – where can I get help?’, ‘I think I’m pregnant – what should I do now?’ or ‘How can I deal with my debt?’. JIP exists to provide help and support in these difficult situations and many others. Their advisors have a lot of experience and can find the best solutions – or direct you to the people who can. However, they also provide many other kinds of youth help, such as assistance with official letters and forms, mediating with official institutions, or providing advice for your project.
International Students and Non-Dutch Speakers
Most of the JIP website is in Dutch only, but everyone who works at JIP also speaks English. They are very happy to answer questions and talk, even if you don’t speak Dutch. For a start, you could visit their English-language page.
Are you studying in The Hague area? There is a special section for international students on the JIP website in English, with information and advice on many topics. Head there to find out more about finding and moving accommodation, money and health tips, or some special ‘student life hacks’.
Contact JIP Your Way
If you don’t find the answers you need online, JIP is also there to talk. It’s possible to contact JIP for support in many different ways, including by phone, WhatsApp or email. You can also make an appointment to meet with a JIP advisor in The Hague, Delft or Zoetermeer.
Whichever way you get in touch, everything you say will be confidential – and, if you like, also anonymous.
