Shopping
Whatever you're buying, The Hague is sure to sell it. As a major city, it has a huge variety of shops. These are usually open every day and until later – normally 21:00 – on Thursday evenings. From big brands to local and boutique stores, find what you need at one of The Hague's many shopping streets, malls, and markets. Or, check out one of several large shopping centres in the local area.
Shopping Hotspots in The Hague
The main shopping areas in The Hague can be found in the heart of the city. The Grote Marktstraat has many flagship stores for bigger brands, as well as several department stores. Near the Royal Palace, find haute couture, boutique, and vintage stores around Plaats, the oldest square in the city, as well as on the nearby Hoogstraat, Molenstraat, Noordeinde, and Denneweg streets. Across these main shopping centres, there's something for every age and price range. Plus, plenty of cafes and restaurants to fuel up in between shopping.
Just northeast of this area, the Zeeheldenkwartier has more local shops, alongside a selection of trendy cafes and markets.
Markets
The Hague is also home to a number of markets. The covered Hague Market (De Haagse Markt) is one of the largest multicultural markets in Europe, with everything from pricey antiques to exotic foods and vegetables. Alternatively, find art, books, and antiques in the old centre at the Haagse Antiek en Boekenmarkt, which takes place once or twice a week at Plein or the nearby Lange Voorhout. Malls and Megastores
If you prefer to find everything in one place, try one of The Hague’s shopping centres. Passage, the oldest in the city, is worth a visit for the stunning architecture alone, but also houses shops from many familiar and high-end brands. The much more modern New Babylon is conveniently located by The Hague Central Station.
For furniture, decoration, and homeware, drive a little way out of the centre to Megastores. In this woonboulevard, you can find everything for your home all under one roof.
Beyond The Hague
But there’s also plenty of shopping just out of town. For popular centres outside the city, try the Westfield Mall of the Netherlands in Leidschendam-Voorburg or the Bogaard Stadscentrum in Rijswijk. The streets surrounding the Markt square in Delft also provide a beautiful setting for a day out.
