Two presenters having a discussion at the Feel at Home Fair

Keeping internationals connected digitally

Published

TheHagueOnline organised the annual Feel at Home International Community Fair completely online this year. The programme was broadcasted live from Sound and Vision The Hague ‘Beeld en Geluid Den Haag’ and thanks to their professional production crew, the day’s diverse line-up streamed seamlessly for our virtual visitors. The Hague International Centre and the City of The Hague have been main sponsors of the event for many years. In keeping with the spirit of the event, the aim for this year was to keep expats and internationals connected to The Hague’s international community, and we are glad we were able to do that digitally.

Saskia Bruines, The Hague's alderman for Economic and International Affairs, welcomed hundreds of online viewers and spoke of her pride of the city and the Fair, which “is a celebration of the strength of the local international community”.

There were over 1,000 registrations and 70 virtual exhibitors at this year's fair. Although the experience was different, the digital format allowed for an interesting showcase of the community, consisting of 15 sessions in the form of webinars, presentations, panel discussions and entertaining programmes covering every topic from sports and mental health to culture and social life.

The Hague International Centre hosted two sessions from the studio

Welcome to The Hague

The Sunday morning programme opened with an introduction of The Hague, and our partners ACCESS, Eurohome, Young Expat Services and The Hague Convention Bureau were invited to share their insights on relocation and settling-in.

The programme concluded with a pre-recorded video of The Hague’s Mayor Jan van Zanen, answering questions that were submitted by internationals via email. You can watch the video on our YouTube channel.

Work and Career in The Hague

International organisations in the city were invited to showcase their organisation and share about recruitment and career opportunities. We also invited Europol, YES!Delft, Undutchables, and Volunteer The Hague to share practical tips on job hunting in the Netherlands.

Please visit Feel at Home International Community Fair next week to watch the recordings of the live shows about relocation, work and career, volunteering, housing, international education, special needs education and mental health.
