2019: The year of Rembrandt & The Dutch Golden Age
In 2019, it has been 350 years since the world-famous Dutch painter Rembrandt has died. That is why 2019 is the year of Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age. This means that throughout the year, you can enjoy the work of Rembrandt in several cities such as The Hague, Amsterdam, Delft and Leiden. Visitors can experience The Netherlands in Rembrandt’s time - the Dutch Golden Age – with very exciting exhibitions at several museums.
Exhibitions in The Hague
- Rembrandt in the Mauritshuis, January 31 - September 15, 2019
The Mauritshuis has one of the most renowned and important collections of paintings by Rembrandt in the world. Did you know they even exhibit the painting Saul and David which recently got appointed to Rembrandt? Fun fact: on January 30th Prinses Beatrix will officially open the Rembrandt expedition in The Mauritshuis.

Later in the year The Mauritshuis presents an exhibition on Nicolaes Maes, one of Rembrandt’s most talented pupils.
