International secondary schools in The Hague region
Secondary education starts at the age of 12 and continues until the age of 18. During the first 4 years of international secondary education, the Dutch international secondary schools prepare their students for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP).
Students who have successfully completed the IBMYP can be admitted to the 2-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB-DP). Both the IB and EB (European Baccalaureate) diplomas are widely recognised as providing a well-balanced pre-university education. They are an accepted entrance qualification for top universities around the world. Currently, no international school options exist in the Netherlands for vocational education.
Private schools may have different curricula for both junior and senior secondary school, however both the American School of The Hague and the British School in the Netherlands give students the opportunity to follow either the national curriculum or the IB-DP in the final 2 years of high school.
