International primary schools in The Hague region
Primary education starts at the age of 4 and continues until the age of 11 or 12. Dutch international primary schools and the private international schools use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) or the European Baccalaureate (EB). In general, Dutch international schools only have English-language education. Foreign national schools, such as the French, German, Japanese and Korean schools, and the private American and British schools teach their national curricula in their native tongue. The European School curriculum is harmonised and taught in the language of the language section (Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish).

The European School’s vision is to inspire students to be responsible, future focused and proactive citizens of Europe and the World. Truly multilingual, we offer tuition in 12 European Languages (also German, Spanish, Italian, French, Greek, Romanian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovenian, Finnish and more).
ESH is an officially accredited European School, partly administered and financed by the Dutch government. It was established in 2012 to teach the children of staff working for the European Union institutions. Although international pupils are accepted, children of (most) European institutions (EPO, Eurojust, Europol, ESA, EMA etc.), staff members are given admission priority.
ESH offers full nursery and primary education through to secondary school. The primary school has 5 language sections: Dutch, English, Spanish, French and German. The school offers a door to door bus service and caters hot lunches for students.
